The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) inaugurated a 1,000-ton cold storage or cold storage warehouse in Muara Baru, Jakarta on Tuesday (21/8). The inauguration was carried out by the Director General of Penguatan Daya Saing Produk Kelautan dan Perikanan (PDSPKP) Rifky Hardijanto.
Rifky explained, the addition of cold storage capacity is in order to provide certainty of storage and availability of industrial raw material needs and food consumption for the community. "We are grateful for the start of the 1,000-ton cold storage construction work in Muara Baru, Jakarta today at the cold storage construction site, Jalan Muara Baru Raya Number 62 Penjaringan, North Jakarta," he said.
1,000 tons of cold storage, built on an area of ??8,885 square meters owned by KKP, and is an addition of previous cold storage in 2013 with a capacity of 2,000 tons. The cold storage construction work is planned to begin on August 20, 2018 and will be completed on December 31, 2018.
For facilities, the building will have two floors. Level 1 consists of a 300-ton receiving room. The second floor consists of anteroom and room freezer with a capacity of 700 tons. Whereas for the service office located on the 1st floor, mezzanine, and the 2nd floor. Cold storage will be one of the storage and buffer infrastructure for fisheries production (buffer stock) in support of the National Fish Logistics Schem (SLIN) program.
The construction of Rp40 billion worth of cold storage was carried out by the contractor PT Inti Graha Sembada. Later it will be managed by BUMN PT Perum Perikanan Indonesia and PT Perum Perikanan Indonesia. This cold storage is to meet the trading needs at the Muara Baru location which reaches around 600 tons per day.
