The southern coastline of Malang Regency is famous for the abundant treasure of maritime resources. The southern region of Bumi Arema is where the top-quality yellowfin tuna swim freely in the Indian Ocean. The popular yellowfin tuna at this time has been exploring the population from every corner of the world, even the Blue Continents are also familiar with the quality of yellowfin from southern Malang.
The sustainability of the export of yellow fin abroad was also confirmed by the Fisheries Extension from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in the southern Malang region, Bima Perkasa Baskara Putra, on Sunday (8/26).
"Tuna caught on the south coast collected at Sendangbiru, exported overseas since many years ago," Bima said.
Regarding the delivery mechanism, yellowfin tuna from the coast of Malang first transit in Tanjung Benoa, Bali before the overseas shipping process is also carried out in Benoa.
Before being transported to Tanjung Benoa, yellowfin tuna first through an auction process at Pondok Dadap fish auction place (TPI), Sendang Biru, Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang Regency.
Bima explained that the production of yellowfin tuna is mostly intended for international consumption. For local consumption, Bima said that not many domestic consumers consume fish with these premium qualities. It is precisely Japanese food culinary entrepreneurs or hoteliers who consume large amounts of yellow fin.
Bima explained that the Sendangbiru area in southern Malang has abundant maritime resources. One way, a fishing boat can collect up to 350 kilograms. Whereas there are 400 ships in Sendangbiru.
This means that the number of yellowfin tuna that swim freely on the coast of Sendangbiru is very large. In a mathematical calculation, if 1 ship caught 350 kilograms of yellowfin, it was possible to capture 14 thousand kilograms of fish at a time. In one month it is usually done twice when you are in the fishing season. Yellowfin tuna, including deep-water fish, can only be found in depths between 250 and 300 nautical miles.
